Why Choose a Functional Health Practitioner?

Discover the difference with a functional health practitioner:

3. Lifestyle Evaluation:

Careful assessment of lifestyle, habits, and other contributing factors ensures a holistic approach to your well-being.

More About Leah Hughes

Hi there, I’m Leah, a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner with over two decades of experience in healthcare. I have a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University. My passion lies in functional/integrative medicine, which involves treating the root cause of symptoms, rather than just addressing the symptoms themselves.

Having worked with the chronically mentally ill as a case manager early in my career, I understand the complexities of managing everyday life while dealing with medical issues. As a nurse practitioner, I strive to support not only my patients but also their loved ones in their care. I find nothing more rewarding than helping clients find effective ways to reduce their pain and start to feel human again.

In my practice, I focus on the whole person and the complexity of their issues, taking the time to go through their history and understand what’s causing their symptoms. I have a comprehensive knowledge of all types of disease states and spend much of my free time staying up-to-date with the latest scientific literature to give my clients the best options for their care. I create personalized healthcare plans to treat a variety of conditions and believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach on the health journey.

I understand what it’s like to suffer from fatigue, brain fog, mold exposure, hormone imbalances, and personal life challenges, which has given me empathy for people challenged by these conditions. I’m passionate about helping others on their personal health journeys and supporting them with a personalized approach that gets to the root cause of what is ailing them. If you’re looking for someone who truly cares and has the knowledge and experience to help you achieve optimal health, then look no further
